Uploaded the picture a few days back on Facebook and Twitter and it did generate some likes and comments by my friends (FB)/followers (Twitter). From the comments that I have gathered, everyone seemed to love it and said that it was refreshing to see me sporting a shorter hair-do.

So, here's the thing. I have a confession to make. I did not exactly cut my long hair short, but I did make my long hair short. If that even makes sense. So sorry for having to trick all of you girls and guys into thinking that I did chop my long hair off! I so did not!

Anyways, since the cat is let out of the bag, here's the tutorial that I followed to create the above look, and I hope you find this informative.

The main reason as to why I did not let out the secret earlier is because I want to see how people would react after I posted the picture of me sporting a shorter hair-do. Would they buy it, or not? Letting the secret out earlier would totally spoil the element of surprise. Guess what? No one actually thought I was hiding any hair underneath whatsoever, so I guess this look is pretty believeable and natural, and you can totally wear this look out! It works best on layered hair though, if you want it to look as believeable and as natural as possible. Have fun!

I might just chop it off for real though, since everyone said it suited me, somehow. We shall see, will keep you guys posted!

Haul post: Buys from Supre Australia

I got a few apparels from Supre Australia! They have pretty nice basics, so I got them. Took advantage of its free shipping for all orders above AUD$80 and placed an order with some girls who joined my Supre spree. The shipping was relatively fast; I received my parcel within a few days.

Here's what I got.

TIGHT FITTED DRESS: [X]

Got a few of them in safe but boring, basic colours because I'm planning to use it as a layering piece; under sheer dresses, cropped tops and casual chiffon blazers. The possibilities are endless! Got the sunset red piece for the fun of it, because I like the colour. Maybe I'll use this one on its own. We shall see.

They have an array of colours to choose from, but I settled for the black one because I know I will get the most wears out of this colour.

Isn't the wine shade lovely? Thought it will be a great addition to my dress collection. :)

This was on sale, and it was so cheap, so I added it to cart. Heh.

Hair Makeover at Shunji Matsuo @ 313

If you are on my Facebook/Twitter, you would have already known that I had a hair makeover kindly sponsored by Shunji Matsuo @ 313. Special thanks to Dianah for making the necessary arrangements. I have had my hair done too at Shunji Matsuo last year, you can read the post here.

I was there on 2 Mondays; 28th November 2011 for a ceramic perm and 5th December 2011 for colour & highlight. It was my virgin experience with perming. Sadly, the perm did not last after the first wash. I voiced out my concern and the salon was gracious enough to re-do my curls again. Instead, I choose to opt for colour + highlight simply because I'm just scared it might die again the second time round! My hair is pretty stubborn on being straight. Major bummer.

Here's a BEFORE picture of my hair taken on the 1st Monday - 28th November 2011 for a ceramic perm.

I didn't do much on my hair this year except for trimming it every few months. I wanted to grow it out, so I did, and I grow out my fringe too because I wanted my fringe long for a change. I didn't dye my hair too expect for the ends which is dyed from the previous dye job last year.

It's a nice and safe look, but it was boring. So... I decided to give perming a try!

That's my stylist! He is Masa and he is the International Director of the salon.

If that is not amusing enough, shortly, I had a horseshoe-shaped bowl around my neck and a red towel clipped onto my head.

Here's the AFTER picture after 3 1/2 hours... Really liked the outcome of the perm!

It's soft, like what I wanted and it's natural looking.

Sadly, my curls died after the 1st wash and my joy was short-lived. I was there again, on the 2nd Monday - 5th December 2011 for colour & highlight.

I decided that I wanted a brown base with ash blonde highlights inspired by this particular J.Lo hairstyle. Showed Masa the picture for reference.

Here's a BEFORE picture of my hair taken on the 2nd Monday - 5th December 2011 for colour & highlight.

Masa had to trim my hair again because the ends was too damaged after the perm thus explains the much shorter length.

After trimming, another stylist, Shirley, took over. She first started by adding the highlights to my hair.

All the foils set in! Uncanny resemblance to a lion's mane.

After letting the foils set in for a while, she then proceeded to colour the rest of my hair with the base colour. She started with the mid - section first, then the ends and finally the roots.

My hair looks really crazy from the back.

5 hours later... The AFTER look.

I loved it! They styled my hair using a curling tong to create the loose curls.

The base colour got slightly darker for the next couple of days and I grew to love it even more.

It's a lovely shade isn't it? :)

All in all, I had a pleasant experience at Shunji Matsuo. Their staff is really dedicated and meticulous in their work. Even though the salon is really packed on the both days that I went, the stylists did not rush through their work and they delivered satisfying results.

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the picture of J.Lo that I showed Masa for reference and how my hair turned out to be like.

TIP: How to fix broken a lipstick

I celebrated my 22nd on the 1st of September 2011, roughly about a month ago. Had a lovely high tea buffet before ending the night with Lion King - The Musical. A quiet & simple, yet memorable birthday celebration. Thank you dear.

Drugstore.com haul!

I recently hauled at drugstore.com because it was having a 20% off everything sale. Used the opportunity to open a quick spree and ordered some items.

Here's what I got!

I am a hoarder as you can see because I tend to purchase a few quantities of the same item if I happen to like the item. Usually it is a repeat purchase; like the L'oreal Lineur Intense eyeliner and the EOS spherical-shaped lipbalms. L'oreal Lineur Intense eyeliner is my current favourite (I'm down to my 2nd tube) thus, I am stocking up on it. I really liked the EOS lipbalm when I purchased one the first time round so I decided to buy a few of them in different flavours. Giving some to my boyfriend, Fir, because he likes it too.

I got 2 tubes of Burt's Bees lipbalm to try out; one for Fir and one for me. I tend to purchase lipbalms for Fir & I because both of us have really dry and chapped lips so we need something to moisturise our lips.

I also got a few blushers and an eyeshadow palette from Wet n Wild to try out because I have read lots of good reviews on them.

Other items that I have purchased to try out are Neutrogena Ultra Sheer dry touch Sunblock because I have been looking for a decent sunblock that is not too thick, I hope this one doesn't disappoint, Neutrogena transparent facial bar for cleansing my face on days that I want to go easy on skincare and give my skin a break, Ardell LashTite adhesive as I want to compare it with my DUO eyelash adhesive and decide which one's better, Covergirl Lash Blast mascara because I have heard a lot about this particular mascara and the wonders it does but have yet to try, Nivea Creme because I read that it is comparable to Creme de la Mer & Maybelline Dream matte powder because I just need something cheap for touch-ups to carry in my purse so that if it breaks, my heart don't break.

I will be trying them out soon (slowly, but surely) and will reviewing the products in depth if it is worth a recommendation.

Watsons haul!

I hauled at Watsons recently as it was having a 20% + additional 5% off selected items and I decided to use this opportunity to get some items I have been dying to try and stock up on my usuals that I have run out of.

I was really selective and choose to purchase only items that I really need/will actually use frequently. I tend to buy things on a whim and usually it will be chucked aside, not used. Well, this bad habit has got to stop.

After careful consideration, I got these!

1. Biore UV Perfect Face Milk

This is a re-purchase because I ran out of it. I love this stuff! I used it as a makeup base/sunscreen before applying my base makeup and it helps my face to stay shine-free for a really long time! A little really goes a long way!

2. Rexona deodorant

This is a re-purchase. Love Rexona's whole range of deodorant products.

I also got a bunch of makeup that I have been wanting to try! L'oreal Super Liner was one of the items on my "To-Buy" list. I really like the fact that it applies and glides really smoothly. Definitely one of the better eyeliners out there in the market.

I also got a few eyeliners & eyebrow pencils from Silkygirl after a friend, Rozi, raved about it. Tested them out myself over the counters, and boy, I was sold. It glides on really smoothly, does not tug the eye, does not smudge or budge (I did try to rub it off but it was still there) and it is really pigmented. Another plus point is that they are really cheap too, less than SGD$10 for a pencil. A really worthy buy, I must say.

Also got 2 items from Maybelline; Watershine Pure lipstick and Lash Stiletto mascara. I am a mascara kind of girl and I was impressed with how Lash Stiletto made my lashes look. My lashes looked really long and wispy. Really pretty. So, I bought it. Guilty to admit, but the Watershine Pure lipstick was a purchase on the whim because I really liked how the colour looked on me. The colour is P24 and its a light pink shade and it's just gorgeous! So, I bought it. :)

It's a small haul but nonetheless the bill still came to about a hundred. Not too bad I suppose, considering I got 9 items, so it works out to be SGD$10 or so per item.

K-PALETTE: EYES ON YOU! WORKSHOP

A few weeks back, I attended a beauty blogger workshop organised by K-Palette! The workshop was held at Fika: Swedish Cafe & Bistro and I was really delighted because I have always loved the food at Fika (they are really delicious!) and I have previously blogged about this quaint little cafe a few times too!

For those of you who are interested to visit this cafe one day, here's the details of the cafe;

The workshop was held at the 2nd floor of the cafe and I must say it was thoughtfully organised and well-planned. The 2nd floor is really spacious, good for private events!

The K-palette team was thoughtful enough and they gave everyone that attended a customised marshmellow door gift! Cute huh?

If that is not thoughtful enough, they even have a mini Canon booth where you can really camwhore to your heart's content and they will develop the pictures for you on the spot! Good way to kill time, haha.

After mingling with the other bloggers and after everyone has pretty much settled down, we were then treated to a makeup-demonstration by K-Palette's very own makeup artist which was flown in from Japan for this workshop!

We all learnt 2 methods of eye makeup:

A: Cat-eye look with the liner drawn upwards to create the "winged liner"

B: Kawaii look with a the liner drawn downward

Basically, the emphasis of Japanese makeup is all about making the eyes look really big to create that dolly/anime-like effect. They really pay a lot of attention to the fake lashes (really dramatic on that), eye brow & eye liner. The rest of the look is kept to the minimal; neutral, pastel shades like pinks & browns were used on the eyes, lips and cheeks.

After the makeup demonstration, lunch was served! Lunch was alright. I chose the chicken for my main.

The K-palette team was really generous to everyone, so everyone came home with these!

I have never tried brown eyeliners / eyebrows before, so I decided to give these products a try! So far so good! Loving how brown eyeliners/brows look on me!

I have tried a lot of eyeliners/eyebrows out there in the market and I personally feel that K-palette products are one of the better ones out there. Really worth a try if you ask me, since they are also very affordable and are readily available at all major retailers.

Sleek makeup haul!

I hauled some Sleek makeup sometime back when I opened a spree for it and here's what I got.

I got 3 blushers and they are; (from L to R) Pixie Pink, Flamingo & Rose Gold.

Pixie Pink is a cool-toned neon pink shade. It has a matte finish to it.

Flamingo is deep pink colour with a slight coral tinge to it. It has a matte finish to it.

Rose gold is a coral based colour with slight gold reflects in it. It has a shimmer finish to it. Great to give the face that sunkissed glow.

I also got their highly raved palettes and I got 3 of them that has colours that I can work with and suits my skintone best.

A week back or so, Nor, a friend of mine, came over and passed me these! I have tried her soaps before, and I love them! The scent lingers on for a long time!

She runs a handmade, personalized soap making business and I personally think it is quite an amazing business model! Who makes their own soaps?

Did a look recently featuring a nude face with bold, red lipstick. Quite like how it turned out!

I am using the red lipstick by Dior Rouge in 752 "Red Premiere". It's a deep red shade with a slight blue-ish undertone which is great for fairer complexions like myself. Dior rouge is generally very long-lasting & pigmented. Go give it a try!

We had dinner at Fika because I was craving for their Swedish meatballs!

While waiting for the food, I was doing 2 things; I was either on my phone or I was camwhoring with my phone. Haha.

GEO lens + Freshkon Sparklers series

I haven't been blogging much of the late because I have been bogged down by school & tutoring. Exams around the corner too (Mar - prelims, May - exam) so my schedule is really really tight.

Recently, I purchased some GEO lens from a recent spree. I know there's talks about it being unsafe for the eyes, but I have purchased them before in the past on 2 different occasions (here & here) and I did not suffer from any eye infections whatsoever wearing them, so I decided to get a few more to stock up. They are really cheap, SGD$10-12 a pair (that is the price I paid for from the recent spree) and they last up to a year. Great savings for me considering most local opticians sell daily/monthly coloured lenses at the same price, if not more.

CUSKin review: Pure Whitening Cream & Whitening & Wrinkle repair BB cream

I was recently contacted by Wendy (from Dione International) to review two products from CUSkin. I was sent 2 products samples from CUSkin; namely the Pure Whitening Cream & Whitening & Wrinkle repair BB cream.

Pure Whitening Cream: Cream like texture, it is white & opaque and has a medicinal smell to it. I use it as instructed after cleansing & toning. I find that the cream spreads and absorbs easily into the skin. After use, my face did feel a little sticky due to the cream.

Whitening & Wrinkle repair BB cream: Like all BB creams, it only has one shade to it. This BB cream is pink based and has a lovely floral scent unlike the Whitening Cream. Thick texture but spreads out easily. It has pretty good coverage and does not leave a sticky residue after I spread it on my face. I tested its oil control for a good 8hrs. My skin did feel a little bit oily at the end of the day, but manageable.

Here's a before & after picture. My skin is pretty uneven & oily, thus I used a face primer to mattify the skin before applying the BB cream. Also I had lash extensions on for the BEFORE picture since I can't remove those.

Lash Extensions - 3rd time experience

I was out with some of my girlfriends; initial plan was to have a nice lunch over at Arnold's (City Plaza) but we all ended up doing lash extensions! It was an impromptu decision! It was really really cheap over at City Plaza, $30 only, so I was like, heck, the previous 2 times I paid $50 each so $30 was considered a real steal!

The results!

I really really liked it! I think it is by far the best-looking one and the neatest looking one if I compare it to my previous experiences with lash extensions.

Makeup Project

So, if you have followed me on Twitter, you would have known that I have embarked on a little project a week or two ago, just so to make sure I touch/use ALL my makeup. Yes, I do have a ton of them, just that I usually end up using the same colours every single day (because I am FOREVER in a rush) and not touch the rest of my makeup stash. Which is obviously a waste because unlike clothes, makeup DO have an expiry date.

The project that I created for myself was the "new blush, new lipstick, new day" project. Basically, I need to use a different blusher and lipstick every single day till I am back to the first blusher and lipstick I started on.

Here's some pictures that I took. Did not manage to take a picture every single day because, well as said, I am FOREVER in a rush. ;)

My eye makeup is pretty much the same because I really suck at applying eye makeup. Haha, oh wells. Need to work on that.

WHY YOU THINK YOU SHOULD WIN: I'm an existing user of this lipbalm ( my third tube already! ) I love the fact that it has an spf30 which will help to protect my lip from the harmful uv rays, not only that, it has aloe to soothe my lip too. Why do you think you should win?: I used to use Banana Boat sunscreen religiously for years when I was younger, when I used to swim regularly, but after my teenage years, my skin has become more sensitive and prone to acne and so I started trying other brands. Right now I'm trying a Neutrogena sunscreen, but my HG foundation doesn't spread smoothly when I use it and so I'm on the search again :( My lips also get chapped very frequently and I've never tried a lip balm with SPF. As I'm going on a diving trip to the Philippines in the end of Dec, this would be the perfect time to test these products, esp since Banana boat is a very reputable brand and the packaging makes me feel nostalgic :)
