What would you do on a good weather like this?
Usually on good weathers like this I would spend my day lazing by the pool to develop a nice glowy tan, have a good swim or a good run.
Because I do not want to get sunburnt, it's a must for me to use sunscreen ALL OVER MY BODY. Yes, face, neck, arms, legs, you name it. Every part that is exposed to the sun.
My choice? BANANA BOAT.
L-R: Oil-Free Faces Sunscreen lotion SPF23, Sports Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 and Aloe Vera Vitamin E Lip balm SPF 30
I used to hate using sunscreens years back because most that was available on the market is so thick and hard to spread out...and worse of all, it makes you feel sticky and sweaty all over.
Banana Boat newest formulation is formulated to suit Singapore's humid climate. Their reformulated sunscreens & lipbalm is much lighter than before and more comfortable for daily use. I have tested them out and I have to agree that it is works really well for our humid climate.
The reformulated sunscreens & lipbalm is enriched with aloe vera and vitamin E (has lightening effect properties) and it absorbs really quickly into the skin.
All their sunscreens are water resistant, fragrance free and hypoallergenic and provide broad spectrum protection against skin damage and aging (UVA rays) and sun damage (UVB rays).
Here's my individual thoughts on them.
Oil-Free Faces Sunscreen lotion SPF23

Banana Boat's Oil-Free Faces Sunscreen lotion SPF23 is suitable for normal to combination skin types. It is dermatologist tested and oil-free which suits skin skin that is prone to breakouts and gets oily in the T-zone area. It also doubles up as a makeup base (apply this before you put on your makeup)
I have tested the products out for a week (used it daily), and here's my daily routine. After cleansing, I slap on Banana Boat's Oil-Free Faces Sunscreen lotion SPF23 onto my bare face.
Spread well using my fingers. It absorbs into the skin pretty fast I would say. PLEASE AVOID THE EYE AREA! It will sting your eye so bad and will make your tear for a few minutes. DAMN PAINFUL. Happened to me on the 1st day of product trial.
Spread any excess onto the neck & ears. (Basically any part that is exposed to the sun chest up)
Face after sunscreen. Notice that there's a slight overall sheen to my face.
Although the Banana Boat's Oil-Free Faces Sunscreen lotion SPF23 has been reformulated, I still experience a bit of stickiness & oiliness on my face after application. I do not know what is the cause of the oiliness since it is oil-free as stated (perhaps I put on too much?) but it definitely helps in making my foundation glide on better as a base.
It is definitely light enough to be used on the face without feeling "heavy" on the skin. Breathable I would say since my face did not perspire after use. Recommended retail price for this item is SG$15.60 for 120ml.

Sports Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50
Banana Boat's Sport Sunscreen lotion with SPF 50 is the perfect sunscreen when you are out exercising. It is ultra sweatproof & non-greasy (uber great, because you do not need extra stickiness after exercising) and it is waterproof too (stays on even after you sweat like a pig :D )
One great thing about this sunscreen is that it has a high SPF of 50. This would be a great sunscreen if you are out in the sun for long doing recreational activities. Don't have to worry about sun damage at all.
It also has a patented AvoTriplex technology which offers complete 3-way protection against the sun, protecting the skin...
1) against sunburn with high UVB protection
2) against the effects of aging and long-term skin damage with high UVA protection
3) lasts longer under the sun without breaking down
Basically, you do not need to apply your sunscreen as frequently now because it protects the skin for a longer period of time.
I tested this product out alternate days for a week when I was out for a jog in a sunny weather.
I slap on the sunscreen on my arms & legs in appropriate amounts when I head out for a jog.
I would say that it has a similar consistency and texture as the Banana Boat's Oil-Free Faces Sunscreen lotion SPF23. It feels light on the skin although it is a bit sticky and greasy. It also gives a slight sheen to the skin after application.
After a good run out, surprisingly I do not feel extra sticky all over (usually I jog in the gym which is a covered area so I do not put on sunscreen) I would definitely recommend this. Recommended retail price for this item is SG$13.90 for 90ml.

Aloe Vera Vitamin E Lip balm SPF 30
Banana Boat's Aloe Vera Vitamin E Lip balm SPF 30 contains aloe vera and vitamin E to moisturize and protect chapped, dry lips. One thing that sets it apart from other lipbalms is that it also has SPF 30 to prevent sunburn and protect lips from harsh UV rays.
It looks like a normal lipbalm, with twisting cap feature and waxy like texture.
I am not lying when I say I have dry, chapped lips. Just look at it...
It definitely improves the appearance of my dry lips and it is definitely moisturizing. I guess the SPF is an added feature to make it different from other lipbalms. It stays on pretty long (considering I tested it out for one whole day and I have to eat & drink and it still stays on). Pretty cheap too, recommended retail price for this item is SG$4.95 for 4.25g.
I cannot stress enough as to why we need to use sunscreen on a daily basis. Apart from it being an important part of an overall sun-safety regime to protect the skin and reduce the number of sunburns it also decreases the risk of developing cancer in the future.
Banana Boat will also be having year-end value packs & discounts (up to 25%) at leading retailers so do stock up on your sunscreens before your year-end holiday!
