Sponsored review: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Range

I got a package early last week...
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Pretty obvious, from Neutrogena!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Sent to me by courier, with my name attached on it. Sweeeeeeet!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Very generous of them, I got the whole range of Neutrogena's latest skincare range; Hydro Boost.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Removed them out of their boxes. Swear to God I never liked blue so much in my whole life.

I have always loved Neutrogena's skincare range because it's always extremely gentle on the skin. One of the range which I am a fan of is their whitening range, especially their face mask. Love it.

Extremely fortunate to have been sponsored their newest range, which is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost range. It consist of a Hydro Boost Mousse Cleanser, Hydro Boost Clear Lotion, Hydro Boost Essence, Hydro Boost Water Gel & Hydro Boost Mask.

I tried the whole range for the whole week and here's my respective review on each product.

Hydro Boost Mousse Cleanser
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
What it claims: Hydro Boost Mousse Cleanser is a gentle, foaming cleanser that cleanses, soothes and softens while adding moisture to skin, preventing skin from drying.

My review: I LOVE THIS CLEANSER! I find it really special because it is mousse cleanser.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
It comes in a pump bottle.

However, unlike normal cleansers where one pump will dispense the liquid form of the cleanser, one pump of this bottle will get me this...
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Mousse cleanser!!! This means that I don't have to lather up my cleanser. It really feels really light on the skin perhaps because of it's extremely foamy texture. I really like it because after washing my face off, my skin is not tight or dry at all. Some cleansers give me that tight feeling after wash. I need two pumps to cleanse the entire face!

Ingredients:

Will I buy this product again: Yes, I will. It's exactly like what it claims.

---

Hydro Boost Clear Lotion
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
What it claims: Hydro Boost Clear Lotion rebuilds skin's natural water shield as it tones and hydrates for a refreshing feel. Apply after cleansing and smooth over face with gentle upward strokes.

My review: It works like a normal toner,
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Need to dab some on a cotton pad since it is very watery.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I dabbed some on a cotton pad and pat it all over my face lightly. Toner is supposed to close up open pores and such after cleansing, however it did sting my face a little. I don't know why but perhaps it is due to it's alcohol content. My face is pretty intolerant to any alcohol based product, so I usually tend to buy water-based product and such.

Ingredients:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Will I buy this product again: No, unfortunately, I hate the stinging sensation, so I will opt for another toner instead.

---

Hydro Boost Essence
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
What it claims: It is an intensive treatment, restoring three times the skin's moisture level within one hour, keeping skin fully hydrated and with a glow all day long. To be used after clear lotion, massage evenly over face and neck every morning and night.

My review: It comes in a pump bottle similar to their mousse cleanser,
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
One pump of the bottle will dispense this...
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Pretty cooling semi-opaque liquid like substance.

I did as instructed and massaged lightly all over my face. One thing I like about this essence is that it is rather light, yet moisturizing, and it is not oily at all! Some essence are very rich which tend to cause a lot of people to break out from it. After massaging, it absorbs easily and somewhat dries up to a semi matte velvety finish. I slept with it through the night and woke up with extremely supple and hydrated skin! The effects is noticeable. Pretty amazing stuff I must say.

Ingredients:

Will I buy this product again: Yes I will! It actually makes me feel refreshed in the morning! It's like rejuvenation. :D

---

Hydro Boost Water Gel

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
What it claims: It restores skin's moisture levels by more than 200%, providing not only immediate replenishment but also hydration that lasts up to 12 hours, for soft, supple skin with a healthy glow. Massage evenly over face and neck every morning and night, after clear lotion or essence.

My review:
Comes in a tub form with a lid as closure.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I don't like the packaging, I need to use a spatula to scoop it out in case I contaminate the whole tub. Very troublesome :( I applied this after the essence, and it has a very cooling but sticky feeling. However, it did dry up instantly. I woke up next day with "bouncy" skin, I don't know if that is attributed to the essence or the water gel.

Ingredients:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Will I buy this product again: I personally think the essence and the water gel is highly similar, I will substitute one for another if I purchase it.

---

Hydro Boost Mask
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
What it claims: It is clinically proven to boost skin moisture level 14 times and prevent moisture loss. Its new smart-fit fabric with 14,000 holes, holds 25% more hydrating essence.

My review: Like all Neutrogena sheet masks, I simply adore this one! The fit is great, probably because of their new smart-fit fabric. I used one before sleep for about 30mins or so, did not rinse off and slept. Woke up feeling extremely fresh. It works better than the essence or water gel I feel.

Will I buy this product again: YES :) Gotta love Neutrogena sheet masks.

---

Different ways of how I used the Hydro Boost range:
CLEANSER ---> CLEAR LOTION ---> ESSENCE ---> WATER GEL
CLEANSER ---> CLEAR LOTION ---> ESSENCE or WATER GEL
CLEANSER ---> CLEAR LOTION ---> MASK

I quite like Method 2 where I alternate between Essence and Water Gel over the week, and reward myself with a Mask (Method 3) over the Sunday. Method 1 is a bit too moisturizing for me I feel. The above review is written based on Method 1 (to review the essence & water gel) & Method 3 (to review the mask)

Neutrogena Hydro Boost range is available at all leading personal stores & pharmacies. Price range from SDG$13.50 to SDG$31.50. I will be getting the masks and the cleanser myself. (:

Credits to Sak who did up the whole layout by photoshop from scratch. She's a genius at creativity. Previously transferred everything to blogspot, did the stock take and stuff to know what's sold out and what's not, but there's restrictions on the html/css codes and stuff, so we decided to go Tumblr!

Charming cat review + Rhomlon eyeliner review

I have heard a lot about this Charming Cat brand and have read a lot of rave reviews so here's my review on them.

The brush.

Before mascara (upper lashes is eyelash extensions)

After mascara (upper lashes is eyelash extensions)

Charming Cat Mascara review: It's mentioned that the mascara is water proof, but I can easily remove it by water and makeup remover. So it is not exactly waterproof. The brush, I find it a bit too fat for my lower lashes, so it tend to cause smudges. It does lengthen and makes my lashes more voluminous considerably, but it also does make the lashes clump together slightly. Can be solved by combing the lashing out thereafter. (which I did not do) Overall it works great as a mascara, doing its job.
Price: SDG$3, got mine from those LJ spree communities.
Will I buy this product again?: Yes.

Eyeliner on skin.

Charming Cat eyeliner review: It works, but the tip is a bit too fat for my liking. A plus point is that it dries up almost instantly and is smudge proof! I tried rubbing it off, but it did not budge. It goes on really easily on the skin and is not too runny.
Price: SDG$3.50, got mine from those LJ spree communities.
Will I buy this product again?: No, my HG eyeliner works better.

Comparing it to my HG (holy grail) eyeliner of all time (been using it for years), Rhomlon liquid eyeliner in black...

Eyeliner on skin.

Rhomlon eyeliner review: Rhomlon definitely beats Charming Cat hands down! The lines created are thinner and much much straighter. I have been using this lovely stuff for years now because it works great and extremely cheap. Every time I try to find a substitute for it, I always go back to Rhomlon because it works better.
Price: SDG$3.90 from Aries / Chameleon / Mustafa Centre / Sinma etc.
Will I buy this product again?: DEFINITELY YES!

pink flat iron

LOOK!
Isn't this just so cute!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
2009 model.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
2010 model.

I saw it at a little pushcart stall in the mall and was tempted. It's soooo cute! One of the major thing I am attracted to this baby is that it's in frikkin pink! I know I totally sound like a ditzy airhead by now but the sales person did a demo on my hair and it works so so well! Like it straightens in less than 3 seconds? The price, a whooping SDG$280. I haggled like crazy and the guy managed to lower it to SDG$200, then SDG$160, then SDG$150 then SDG$140. That's the best he can do, half price. Still, I am not convinced that that is the best price that he can give because I am never convinced with commission based salesperson and I do not want to part with a hundred odd dollars within minutes so I walked off, went home and did my research.

Realized that Corioliss is a pretty popular based brand and is a professional type of hair straightener used in salons. I have read a lot of rave reviews and I am thoroughly convinced. Since it is cheaper buying it online, I am going to ship this baby from the US of A! (Ebay US)

In case anyone of you are interested, you can try it out locally first at the pushcart stall at Yewtee Point first level near the escalator. I have tried, and I think it's really really good, better than the Jose Eber ones that I have tried at Vivo & Suntec City outlet.

The reason that is holding me back from purchasing, I dunno which to shade to choose, the baby pink one or the hot pink one. I will purchase once I have decided :) Teeheehee. For now, I am lemming towards the baby pink one.

She has more than 1 million views on her hair tutorial and she's using the Corioliss Pro Fix Pink Tourmaline Ceramic Flat Iron (the Baby Pink one)

EDIT: Placed my order on Ebay for the Baby pink one! :D

random gf meetups over the week.

Had impromptu lunch with Diy on Monday at Seoul Garden.

Ate like a pig, servings after servings. Seriously. =/ Really nice catching up with Diy. (:

My review: Their food standard is still the same, still as nice and all for a cheap buffet in the heartlands. A plus point for me since I LOVE MEAT. I know right? I sounded almost like a true blue carnivore there.

Met Sak & Zee on Tuesday for Sak's belated 21st birthday celebration. Pic quality is pristine, taken using Sak's DSLR.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The place is very quiet on a weekday night. It's a nice place to chill and all and the only thing I am probably unhappy about is their service staff. They are EXTREMELY slow in everything.

They tweaked their menu a little from the previous time I went there.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Sides: Hotdog with chips & Cheese wedges.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Mains: Zee's creamy dory fillet / My lamb ribs / Sak's chicken cutlet.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Sak with her "birthday cake"

My review: I am not gonna lie, the food there is as dismal as the previous time I went there even after the change in menu. My lamb ribs were so thinly sliced, it turned out stale and crunchy. Like...burnt meat. Being a huge meat lover, I am extremely picky about the meat's taste and texture. I tried Zee's main, the creamy dory fillet, hers is nice. But portion is rather small for the price that we paid for. Ahh Wanna B dissappoints me yet again. The only rave I have is probably not the food, but the ambience. And that's about it.

The only reason I made my way down there the 2nd time was that Fika's reservation was full for the night. Boo. :(

Met Isyah on Thursday for an event; Wigs by Shunji Matsuo. I was invited by Coleen from a PR company to attend and brought Isyah along with me.

Here's a little demo that Mr. Shunji Matsuo did on Coleen (brunette) and his stylist (purple hair) for the introduction on how to don on a wig. It's actually pretty easy to don one on. Like less than 5minutes with styling and teasing of hair inclusive in that short time frame.

We had our makeup done pre-donning-of-wigs.

AFTER PICS!

I told my stylist (Comb) that I want to try something short since I want a drastic transformation. Here's the few that he tried on me.

WIG #1: I feel like look like a kaypoh auntie with this wig. It's wavy and short. Damn auntie hairstyle, LOL. Next wigggggggggg!

WIG #2: Aline bob. Cute. If I were to cut this hairstyle I would have made it slightly longer.

WIG #3: LADY GAGA AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH! HAHA! Damn I rock this look. Love it. Now I know how I look if I go platinum blonde. Not too shabby aye?

With my EXTREMELY NICE hair stylist, Comb! Lol, super sexy come hither pose he gives.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Us with Mr. Shunji Matsuo. Such a warm and hospitable man. Really makes all of us feel comfortable.

The whole event was a SUCCESS I must say. Very warm and hospitable hosts and it was very much well planned. I really enjoyed myself. It's my first time donning a wig on, and I am sold! I use to have this perception that wigs are meant for old and balding people. (I mean, that's the ONLY reason why you would don on a wig I feel.) Through this event, I learnt that wig is more of a fashion accessory and it can change one's look almost instantly and most importantly, anybody can wear it, at any age, be it for that special dinner function or for a themed party. The wig is extremely comfortable, not itchy or anything like that and it is made of real human hair and handmade.

We left home with some goodies!
