My experience at Marie France BodyLine

I was recently invited to experience and review Marie France BodyLine's slimming treatments some time late last month. My appointment was scheduled on 25th March 2013 at their Jurong Point outlet. I chose Jurong Point as it was the most convenient location for me.

The interior and decor of the Jurong Point outlet is very warm and inviting. It makes one feel at ease and I find that it is very tastefully done and sleek. I particular liked that they used full panels of mirrors to enlarge the room visually.

I sat patiently in their plush sofas while waiting for one of their consultants to attend to me. While waiting, a lady asked whether I would like green tea or plain water. I opted for plain water as I am not too much of a fan of unsweetened chinese green tea.

The first consultant to attend to me was their food nutritionist. She asked me about my eating habits and patterns and after consultation, I found out that I have very irregular meal times due to my extremely hectic schedule and this is detrimental to my health. It slows down my metabolism rate and it is much harder to lose weight in the long run. She did gave me some advice like to plan my meals in advance so that I do not opt for a takeout which is an unhealthy choice and also to eat my meals at the same time everyday. Eating at the same time everyday actually helps the body settle into a consistent rhythm and it helps to increase the metabolism rate and in turn helps the body to burn more fats = weight loss, which is the ultimate goal.

After I talked to the food nutritionist, I talked to one of their slimming consultants which did a full body analysis for me. She took my weight on a machine that not only measures my weight, but also measures the fat percentage in my body. I found out that my fat percentage is rather high for my weight.

Below is a comparison of one pound of fat VS one pound of muscle. Both is essentially the same weight, but the muscle occupies a much smaller space as compared to the fat. My concern is to look more toned and defined, I am not too worried about the numbers on the scale. Basically, I could possibly still weigh the same if I were to have less fat and more muscle but look much smaller.

Though I am of acceptable weight, I am not the most slimmest individual and I do have a few problem areas that I wish to address. My problem areas are my upper arms, stomach, hips and thighs. Overall, I think I am very flabby and untoned possibly attributed to lack of exercise and poor, unhealthy eating habits.

The 2 treatments that I tried out were the Intelect Spot Shaping (ISS) treatment for my upper arm (full treatment) and Contour Sculpt Body System (CSBS) for my stomach, hips and thighs (exclusive trial). Treatmend bed awaits!

I was brought to the treatment room by another consultant and was asked to change out of my clothes. I was given a bathrobe, disposable panties and also a pair of bedroom slippers.

They do have a locker room if you wish to put your belongings in them before the treatment. Apart from that, you may also use their ladies before the treatment.

All ready for the treatment to begin!

The first treatment that I tried out was the Intelect Spot Shaping (ISS) treatment for my flabby upper arms. This treatment is specially created to eliminate the stubborn fat deposit from undesirable spots like flabby thighs, tummy and in my case, upper arms. It is a non invasive technology that incorporates proven techniques of using ultrasound for breaking down fats and Marie France BodyLine's signature Fat Mobilisation System (FMS) body wrap concept.

The mixture of gel and creams used on my arms and body... and my plain water!

My upper arm was gently cleansed with a hot towel before the consultant applied the ultrasound gel and anti cellulite serum mixture on my upper arm. The gel and serum solution is extremely cold. After applying the solution, the consultant used a handheld device called the intellect mobile ultrasound on my upper arms for about 10 minutes on each arm. The tingling sensation from the device did make my arms ache a little but it was bearable. After using the device, she then massaged my upper arms, this time using her hands, with more of the anti cellulite serum. My oh my, her massage did made me wince.  It made my arms ache do bad, but I endured. After the almost half an hour long massage, she then used the Fat Mobilisation System (FMS) body wrap, which looks like a bandage, on my upper arms before wrapping up the whole treatment session.

After the Intelect Spot Shaping (ISS) treatment for my upper arm (full treatment), she then slathered on some cold gel of some sort on my stomach, hips and thighs liberally before wrapping my body up with a shrink wrap. It is an exclusive trial for the Contour Sculpt Body System (CSBS) and not a full treatment, so no massage or machines were used on the problem areas mentioned.

I was then brought to another room to sit and wait while the gel does its magic on my body. It is a small private room all by myself.

 I was shivering at this point because the waiting room was extremely cold. I was really thankful that the consultant provided with a towel and wrap it around my body. She also provided me with a hot bottle for me to hug to keep myself warm.

After about 20 minutes or so, the consultant came in and removed all the shrink wrap on my body. She also gave me a dry towel and a pail of warm water so that I could wash myself up before changing into my own clothes.

After changing into my own clothes, the consultant who gave me the full body analysis brought me to a private room to ask me about my experience. She also showed me some of the packages that she thought I would be interested in but I politely declined.

Overall, my experience at Marie France BodyLine was an extremely pleasant one. I need to commend on the professionalism of their staff. All of them are very courteous and attentive throughout and they really have your needs in mind.

Product Review: Vita Green Lingzhi Supplement

A few weeks ago, I was sent a box of Vita Green Lingzhi Supplement for product review purposes.

The supplement comes in a capsule form and it incorporates natural wild lingzhi. Lingzhi (Ganoderma Lucidum) is an ancient chinese herb that belongs to the basidiomycotina class of fungi. It is the rarest and most precious Chinese medical herbs. It is also rated as a superior type of Chinese herbs. Lingzhi contains high content of Germanium, Complex Polysaccharides, Polysacchaaride Peptides and Triterpenoids. All these substances are known to be effective in strengthening the immune system and restoring normal bodily functions. So far, I have not developed any side effects to the supplement and I have not suffered any breakouts to the skin after consuming the product but it is still too early to tell. This product is best used for an extensive period of time.

The Amethystory Mineral Yogurt Mask comes in a tub. I am not a fan of products in a tub because I find it rather troublesome to use a spatula to scoop out the product (this product does not come with a spatula) and honestly, it is rather unhygienic and messy to just dip my fingers into it. Though this product requires that additional step, I find that is it worth it as it did impress me.

The product is quite thick and creamy and it feels and smells just like yogurt. It spreads rather thinly on the skin, feels very rich yet not greasy on the skin.

Directions to use are as follows.

I did as instructed putting a thin layer all over my face for about 30 minutes before rinsing it off. I find that the product is rather hard to be rinsed off, but still manageable. After rinsing it off completely, I was thoroughly impressed that my skin did in fact look much brighter and more radiant. My skin also has a slight glow which I really love and it did hydrate my skin rather well. It is affordably priced at SGD$18.90 and it is available locally at Watsons, Guardian and all other leading pharmacies and supermarket.

Can a product float on air? You gotta see Magic Babe Ning's gravity-defying act!

Magic Babe Ning amazingly manages to float a product in the air making it seem that the product is surprisingly light. Pretty cool levitation trick, I would say! Worth a watch and sharing it with your friends!

I recently received the Sunplay Skin Aqua UV Moisture Milk SPF50 PA+++ some time back for product review purposes. I have tested the product for more than a week and here is my thoughts on the product.

Hair Makeover at Shunji Matsuo Ngee Ann City

A month back or so, I was at Shunji Matsuo - Ngee Ann City outlet.

Shunji Matsuo has relocated its flagship store to the 5th floor of Ngee Ann City and I was invited to try out their services.

I opted to try out their colouring + hair treatment services. My rebonded hair was about 2 weeks old prior to my visit at Shunji Matsuo. I had my hair soft-rebonded at another salon. 

I was quite sick of my hair colour which has faded quite considerably to a bright copper so I told them that I wanted to go really dark with some subtle highlights. Basically, I wanted something that is rather easy to maintain. This was the look that I was going for. It is a dark black base with dark brown highlights. 

Nao, the international director, (most right) was my stylist for the day. Her assistants added in the highlights first using the foiling method before adding in colour to the rest of the hair.

The waiting process begins...

After colouring and highlighting, one of the assistants did a hair treatment for me. 

The hair treatment that she opted for me was the Armino Botanical Garden Treatment which was one of the latest hair treatments offered by Shunji Matsuo. The treatment is a five-step process specially customized and formulated to suit and treat individual hair conditions. 

The treatment starts from $140 for a 45-minute session. Definitely money well-spent in my opinion as the stylist was very thorough throughout the hair treatment session. The service provided by the stylist was impeccable and I have nothing but raves for the hair treatment session.

After the hair treatment session, they blow-dryed my hair and styled it to perfection. Nao, my stylist, even offered to do a haircut for me to even out my ends.

Unfortunately, the highlights was too subtle, it cannot be seen. Nao, my stylist offered to re-do my highlights for me and so, I was at Shunji Matsuo for the second time.

The service delivered by Nao and her team was nothing but excellent and I was thoroughly impressed, yet again. Highly recommended and you will definitely not be disappointed.
